Romantic, cheerful but sassy, she is by far one of the most unique personalities. But i said enough. Pigi Matthaiou, unwraps her amazing persona and shares more about her ideas.
Q.Hello!
A.Firstly, hello!
Q.To begin with, tell us a few words about you. What are you doing?
A.Well, I currently study Management in Royal Holloway, university of London and I find my course absolutely thrilling. However, since the business world is an indeed challenging workplace, one should not be content but he should strive to get the most out of it. For instance, I am trying to grasp every opportunity that could be arisen, like volunteering, networking, conferences, competitions.
Q.How would you describe style? What would be your definition about it?
A.I'll have to use a quote, which I absolutely agree with, that style is a way to say who you are without having to speak. I perceive it like this because one's stylistic choices are determined from their emotions, feelings, surroundings, and style could easily be the reason behind the formation of someone's first impression about you.
Q.Are you a latest-trend person or a classic-chic?
A.Definitely a classic-chic, although if I like a trend, I will of course adopt it, maybe a bit adjusted to my personal taste though.
Q.Style and fashion is a kind of art, would you agree with that statement?
A.YES YES! What a question! I'm still in the waiting list to go and see Alexander McQueen's exhibition in London, and I have to say that, for me, this is the most powerful art there is.
Q.What about the advertising and the entire business part? Is fashion related to the chaotic world of business and management?
A.Absolutely. Another reason why I love what I'm studying is because I have already done case studies on fashion brands and Marketing courses use fashion constantly, from the way it is being advertised to why people are willing to pay thousands to buy one branded bag. Fashion is a multi-billion industry and it could not be left out from businesses.
Q.Can good promotion and management make a less worthy brand successful?
A.Ha, no question on that! Think about it this way. You see a celebrity advertising a specific brand, and at the same time he is endorsing a specific type of lifestyle. For instance, Marilyn Monroe has been the ultimate celebrity endorsing the luxury lifestyle behind Chanel no5. No wonder why this perfume is the one with the most sales per minute world wide.
Q.Do you thing that style is more than clothing for our generation?
A.Yes, definitely. One's style is being influenced by a lot of parameters, from music and art, to personal feelings as I said before.
Q.How would you describe our generation?
A.I read in an article in the Economist the term 'Phone sapiens', which basically means that we have became so much dependant on our cell-phones. I couldn't agree more. It can be both a blessing and a curse, depends how one chooses to use it.
Q.Is there something that you would like to share with everyone reading this?
A.Growing up in a small society, where judgment about everything prevails, I have learned the hard way that if you want something, you have to just be yourself, don't be afraid to be different, and most of all, DONT GIVE A DAMN about what one may think/say about you as long as you know who you are and what you want! :)
