Fashion created by food is now worldwide popular and the past two years more and more designers are making those kinds of clothes.Fashion food clothes are definitely not wearable and many of them aren't even available for selling.But the designs that are been bought are very expensive and in order to "survive" must be preserved under some specific conditions.
THE MATERIALS.
The materials that are been used in order to be made clothes by food are mostly uncooked first-hand products.Some of those products are vegetables, fruits, pastas and some kinds of mollusks. Cookies, bread or even uncooked meat are products that are used rarely.The only processing that is necessary is about the dressings that some designers want to add in their creations.Chocolate, cocoa, caramel and other candies are also very popular materials in food fashion.
THE PROJECT.
The biggest food fashion event was Hunger Pains Food Fashion.A project photographed by Ted Sabarese and created by a team of 15 designers led by Ami Goodheart.Two Project Runway alums, Daniel Feld and Wesley Nault, wove the artichoke dress shown above.The model stood for six hours while the duo crafted the dress leaf by leaf before the first photograph was taken.An amazing and also a very hard work.
THE SWEET.
The hardest task on creating food clothing are the designs that are made with candies and especially chocolate.The German bakery group Lambertz created a full chocolate dress in 2010 for its annual Monday Night Party in Cologne.The creation was one of more than a hundred fashion pieces celebrating chocolate.The chocolate material may look beautiful but it is the hardest to work with.Chocolate can easily melt or freeze and that is a trouble for all the food-fashion designers.
